The Oregon Department of State Lands (DSL) has opened a public review and comment period for Edge Cable Holdings LLC’s encroachment easement application. “Edge Cable” is in reality Facebook.  Members of the public can comment on what DSL should do about the drilling disaster until close of business on Thursday, Nov. 5.

The encroachment easement would allow the equipment abandoned during an April 28, 2020 drill pipe break to remain beneath the seafloor. The equipment includes approximately 1,100 feet of drill pipe; a drill tip; two tools for drill steering and tracking; and approximately 6,500 gallons of drilling fluid.

The encroachment easement application is available for review on the. "DSL website"

The public review and comment period closes Nov. 5 at 5 p.m. Comments must be received by this day and time to be considered. Comments may be submitted:
