Science Pub on Climate Change
Science meets suds when the Nestucca, Neskowin & Sand Lake Watersheds Council sponsors a “Science Pub” at Pacific City’s Pelican Brewing (33180 Cape Kiwanda Dr.) on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 6-8 p.m. The event is free and open to all.
The speaker is Kami Ellingson, watershed program manager with the Siuslaw National Forest, whose topic is “Climate Change Modeling and Local Geology,” an exploration of how shifts in rainfall will affect water availability in the region. Ellingson works extensively in watershed and estuary restoration and will speak from her experience as both researcher and field practitioner. She will describe how climate change models assist in the effort to anticipate the coming effects. She will also discuss the limitations of the technology and how these models can go wrong. The goal is to predict future freshwater resources on the coast.
