Landslide that occurred on Dec 5 has covered most of south entrance from Oceanside Beach to the manmade tunnel under Maxwell point. Beach closed by Stste Park staff until danger of further landslides is assessed and any needed repairs are completed. read more

Graffiti inside Maxwell point tunnel. Contacted Netarts Bay WEBS and Oregon State Parks. Received this response from The Oregon State Park ranger. "Thanks for the pictures, I’ve passed it up the ladder to get a decision on how to move forward. Sad to see such disregard of our recreation areas."read more

There were quite a few people for a weekday, walking, skimboarding and playing in the sand. We saw a family, including children, in wetsuits walking north of Maxwell point, near the cave. There were 15 fire rings but fewer dogs than usual. We saw shallow water with high algae content...

Rafts of Vellela, still getting fresh ones, lots of dried ones remain. Quiet day on the beach, rainy early, high and choppy surf. Sand has moved back in to area just north of Maxwell Pt. One odd alga.

There was a notable shift in the sand to the north end of the cove north of Maxwell point. The shore by Maxwell point was eroded to bedrock and the exposed rocks at the north end of this cove had a buildup of sand around their bases. Three dead birds...

There were at least 20 fire rings at the Oceanside wayside beach, none in current use.The notched log that is likely tsunami debris is still just south of the tunnel, up against the dunes. The rock cairn north of the tunnel, that was present in January but gone in May...

Prior week had been quite stormy and waves were very high. Much flotsam with Lepas barnacles. One instrument panel had Japanese writing, and one plastic bottle was labeled Suntory 25, which is apparently the name of an expensive Japanese whiskey.

Clear sunny Friday. Some beach erosion noted just south of tunnel. More cobble exposed north of tunnel. Sparse wrack and debris. Some razor clam and other shells.
